The director of Akron football club, Konstantin Klyushev, commented on the issue of strengthening restrictions for legionnaires in Russian football. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, long-term planning and a clear approach are necessary when making such decisions. Currently, the rules change every season, and this situation negatively affects the activities of clubs.
Klyushev stated that clubs in the Russian Premier League are not positively inclined towards the expected changes regarding the limitation of the number of legionnaires. Currently, each club can register 13 legionnaires for the season, and 8 of them are allowed to be on the field at the same time.
Starting from the next season, it is proposed to strengthen these restrictions, allowing 10 legionnaires per club and specifying the participation of 5-7 foreign players on the field. Klyushev emphasized that such changes could pose difficulties for club management and coaches, and may reduce the growth of players and the competitiveness of teams.
He noted the necessity of thoroughly studying this issue and resolving it while considering all parties involved. At the same time, he particularly stressed that any changes should be pre-planned and consistent.
