Barcelona football club goalkeeper Joan Garcia may not be able to take the field at the start of the new season in the Spanish championship. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Reliable sources indicate that even if Iñaki Penya leaves the club, Barcelona's management will not be able to include Joan in the main squad.
The reason is that the club is still not fully complying with the "one-to-one" financial rule set by La Liga. During the summer transfer window, Barcelona purchased Joan from Espanyol for 25 million euros.
Last season, the 24-year-old Spanish goalkeeper played in 38 matches in the Spanish championship, keeping his goal intact in eight of those matches. Barcelona will play their first match of the new season against Mallorca on August 16.
Due to financial restrictions, the club is unable to register a new goalkeeper for the championship matches. This situation may lead to issues regarding competition and squad depth within the team.
For this reason, the club's management is trying to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
