Vitaliy Milonov, known as a deputy of the State Duma of Russia, expressed his opinion about the participation of St. Petersburg's "Zenit" football team in the current season. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Currently, after four rounds of the championship, the team is in eighth place. According to Milonov, the main problem of the "Zenit" team is the excessive number of foreign players.
In his opinion, the number of foreign players should be reduced. The deputy emphasized that blaming head coach Sergey Semak in this matter is incorrect.
At present, the "Zenit" football club is one of the teams with the most legionnaires among the championship participants. Most of them are players from Latin American countries.
During the summer transfer window, the club purchased Brazilian player Jerson Santos for 25 million euros. Thus, the topic of the number of legionnaires in the "Zenit" team and their impact on the team's results is being discussed among the football community.
Deputy Milonov believes that local players should be given more opportunities.
