It is said that 1000 Kenyans have been hired for the Russian war

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine is also affecting the fate of citizens from various countries. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to recent information provided by Kenyan intelligence, Russia may have recruited more than 1000 Kenyans to participate in the war in Ukraine. This number is noted to be significantly higher than previous estimates.
According to a report presented by Kimani Ichungwa, the majority leader in the Kenyan National Assembly, the recruitment was carried out through a multi-stage network. It is said that officials involved in corruption and individuals engaged in human trafficking participated in this process.
The recruits include former military personnel, police officers, and unemployed citizens. They were promised high income and lured into a dangerous journey.
The intelligence report states that by February, 89 Kenyans were on the Ukrainian front, 39 were being treated in hospitals, and 28 were missing. Initially, the recruitment process was conducted through tourist visas, but later these routes were changed.
Now, recruits are being sent through other countries. According to Reuters agency, some airport staff, immigration services, and even diplomatic missions were involved in this process.
However, the Russian embassy in Nairobi denies involvement in illegal recruitment. At the same time, Kenyan Foreign Minister Musalia Mudavadi has announced plans to visit Russia to investigate the situation.
This incident once again highlights serious problems of human trafficking, corruption, and deception. The story of Kenyan professional athlete Evans Kibet can serve as an example.
He stated that he was invited to Russia to participate in a sports competition but was later deceived and sent to war. The conclusion is that such cases need to be monitored, openly discussed, and mechanisms for protecting people strengthened.
Hiding war and human trafficking under various disguises is indifference to human life. Paying serious attention to this issue is the responsibility of every state.
