
Slovan and Kayrat teams competed for a place in the playoff round of the Champions League qualifiers. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Last week, Kazakhstan's Kayrat team won 1:0 and aimed to maintain their advantage in today's match as well. At the beginning of the match, Edmilson Filio provided a pass from the right flank, and Jorjinyo Pereira struck the ball, hitting the goalpost from the left corner.
In the 30th minute, Marko Tolich supplied Robert Mak with a deep pass, and he scored with a precise shot into the bottom right corner from the penalty area line – 1:0. In the second half, the guests launched an attack from the right flank, but Edmilson's shot was saved by the goalkeeper.
Tigran Barsegyan passed to Mak on the left flank during a counterattack, but Mak missed the opportunity to score a second goal – the ball hit the post. Barsegyan also took a shot from near the penalty area, but the ball went just wide.
At the end of the half, the guests found themselves in a nearly one-on-one situation from the left flank, but the goalkeeper stopped the shot. Valeriy Gromyko took the ball with his left foot and shot from outside the penalty area, but the goalkeeper deflected the ball directed to the corner.
The match moved to extra time after the regular period. During extra time, both teams played cautiously.
Slovan launched an attack from the right flank, but the header went just wide of the top left corner of the goal. In the penalty shootout, Kayrat players acted accurately and won 4:3.
Now Kayrat will face Celtic next week. Slovan will compete against Young Boys in the Europa League.
