Before the new season, the "Sevilla" club has changed its goalkeeper. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The goalkeeper of England's "Newcastle" team, Odysseas Vlachodimos, has joined "Sevilla" on loan for one season. According to the agreement between the clubs, the player will participate in the Spanish championship during the 2024-2025 season.
Odysseas Vlachodimos is 31 years old. He played for "Newcastle" last season.
The English club spent 24 million euros for the goalkeeper. Previously, he also played for "Nottingham Forest."
However, Vlachodimos is mainly known for his time at Portugal's "Benfica." He was the main goalkeeper of the Lisbon club from 2018 to 2023.
The player is a product of Germany's "Stuttgart" club. Last season, "Sevilla" found itself in a difficult situation in the Spanish championship.
The team accumulated 41 points and finished in 17th place. The club narrowly avoided relegation by just one point.
For this reason, it was decided to make changes to the squad before the new season. The new goalkeeper is expected to bring strong defense and reliable performance to the club.
