After the previous captain Son Heung-min left the squad, head coach Thomas Frank decided to appoint defender Cristian Romero as captain. He announced this in an interview with journalists.
The coach mentioned that he had an open and sincere conversation with Romero, who was very pleased to be appointed to this position. Additionally, Frank emphasized that Romero will lead the team onto the field not only in the UEFA Super Cup match but throughout the entire season.
The coach noted that Romero possesses all the necessary qualities for leadership. Cristian Romero has been playing for Tottenham since the end of August 2022.
The Argentine defender has participated in 124 matches for the team so far. In these matches, he has managed to score seven goals and provide three assists.
The Tottenham management and coaching staff have great confidence in Romero's experience and leadership abilities. He will now take the field as the team captain in the new season.
