PSG football club became the first French team to win the UEFA Super Cup. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The Parisians found themselves in a difficult situation to secure victory in the final match. In the last five minutes of the match, they were trailing against Tottenham.
However, the team managed to equalize in the final moments and prevailed in the penalty shootout against their opponent. Thus, for the first time, the UEFA Super Cup was awarded to a French team.
Interestingly, PSG could have achieved this result much earlier. In the 1995-1996 season, PSG won the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, while Juventus from Turin won the Champions League.
At that time, the Super Cup match consisted of two legs, and Juventus confidently won both games. The score was 6:1 in the first match and 3:1 in the second leg.
Thus, PSG missed that opportunity and could not secure the Super Cup. This time, however, PSG achieved a historic result and opened a new chapter for French football.
