The goalkeeper of the CSKA football club in Moscow, Igor Akinfeev, expressed his opinion to journalists about the possibility of changes to the restrictions on the number of foreign players in Russian football. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, the number of strong local players and high-level foreign players should be almost equal. Akinfeev believes that there should be five or six quality legionnaires in the team.
It should be noted that under the current regulations, no more than eight foreign players can be on the field at the same time for one team, and up to thirteen legionnaires can be on the team roster. According to the new proposed changes, this restriction may be reduced to five foreign players and ten players on the team roster.
The impact of these changes on competition in Russian football and the development of local players is currently unknown. At the same time, experts emphasize that these restrictions may expand opportunities for the growth of local footballers.
