Road traffic safety and transport system will be digitized
The government of Uzbekistan has adopted a new decision aimed at improving road traffic safety and digitizing the sector. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the Administrative Practice module in the Road Traffic Safety Service information system under the Public Safety Department will be integrated with the information systems of relevant ministries and agencies. In accordance with the decision, from February 1, 2026, separate series of state number plates will be introduced for certain categories of vehicles.

Specifically, trucks with a total weight including cargo exceeding 44 tons, special equipment used in mines, quarries, and pits, unregulated taxis owned by legal entities, as well as antique cars will be registered in a separate series. Additionally, the use and re-registration of vehicles manufactured more than 50 years ago will be prohibited.

Vehicles of this category are to be deregistered. Another innovation is that the requirement to indicate the owner's address in the certificate confirming vehicle registration will be abolished.

This will reduce paperwork and simplify data exchange. Also, some documents required for vehicle registration will be obtained from authorized bodies through interagency electronic cooperation.

For example, vehicle sale contracts, electronic auction protocols, and other information will be provided through this system. Earlier, a requirement was established to adapt urban transport for persons with disabilities and passengers with children.

Furthermore, the issue of restricting taxi services using cars older than 15 years is also being discussed. It was reiterated that unregulated taxis must comply with road traffic safety requirements regarding technical condition and equipment.
