FIFA has extended the contract suspension for legionnaires

FIFA has extended the possibility for legionnaires in the Russian Cup to terminate contracts. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

According to the organization's press service, these rules may also apply to Ukrainian players. This regulation was introduced in 2022 and will now be in effect until June 30, 2026.

However, these rules do not apply to players whose contracts were signed or extended after May 21, 2023, or after March 7, 2022. FIFA's statement indicates that this extension ensures ongoing legal support for players, coaches, and clubs, and reflects the organization's firm commitment to protecting the stability of the football system in complex situations.

To take advantage of this opportunity, clubs are required to notify in writing by August 1, 2025. These rules are considered an important measure aimed at protecting the rights of players and supporting the activities of teams.
