Sports journalist and commentator Dmitriy Guberniev expressed his views on the possibility of tightening the limit on foreign players in the Russian Premier League. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He emphasized that he is aware of Degtyaryov's position and mentioned that there is an opinion from the Russian Football Union. Currently, reducing the number of legionnaires may be appropriate, but this issue is not clear yet, as no decision has been made.
According to Guberniev, if allowed, the limit may not change. According to the current rules, there can be up to 13 foreign players on the roster of Premier League clubs, but no more than 8 legionnaires can be on the field at the same time.
The new season will start on July 18. These changes are aimed at regulating the number of players and the composition of teams.
The Premier League and the Russian Football Union are carefully considering this issue.
