The Torpedo team was disqualified due to attempts to organize match-fixing in the Russian Premier League. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Now there is a need to determine who will play in the top division for the 2025/2026 season. This spot could be taken directly by Orenburg, which is in 15th place, or by Ural, which was a contender to return to the elite but lost in the playoff matches.
Ural president Grigory Ivanov emphasized that Orenburg has no advantage in the current situation. According to him, if Torpedo was disqualified for violating the rules of the National Football League, then it should be Ural, not Orenburg, that plays in the Russian Premier League.
In Ivanov's opinion, they are ready to play in the Premier League. There are only eight days left until the start of the Russian championship.
On Friday, July 18, the Dynamo team will host Baltika at their home ground. This match is considered an important event before the start of the season.
So far, the league composition and participating teams are unclear, but official decisions on this matter are expected in the coming days.
