Former midfielder of the Russian national team and Manchester United, Andrey Kanchelskis, expressed his opinion on who should take the place of Moscow's Torpedo team in the Russian Premier League (RPL). This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The "black-and-white" team was relegated due to the impact of team performances in the country's top league. According to Kanchelskis, there should be a playoff match between Orenburg and Ural to enter the RPL.
He stated this in an interview with the publication "Championat." Last year, Orenburg finished in fifteenth place in the RPL and was relegated based on sporting criteria.
Ural, on the other hand, secured fourth place in the PARI First League but failed to achieve success in the battle for the top league after losing in the playoff matches against Akhmat. Therefore, a playoff match must be held to make a clear decision on who will participate in the RPL in the new season.
This is considered important for the fairness and transparency of football.
