Famous former footballer Andrey Kanchelskis expressed his views on the restrictions placed on the number of legionnaires in Russian football. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
It was previously announced that the limit on legionnaires in the Russian Premier League could be tightened within a year. According to Kanchelskis, instead of strengthening the restrictions on the number of legionnaires, they should be abolished.
He emphasized that legionnaires do not hinder Russian football; on the contrary, the restrictions on foreign players should be lifted. If Russian football wants to develop, it is necessary to abolish these restrictions.
Currently, clubs in the Russian Premier League can register 13 legionnaires for the season. At the same time, a team can have 8 foreign players on the field at one time.
The limit on the number of legionnaires is expected to be changed next year, and several options are being considered in this regard.
