General Motors car owners have encountered an unexpected problem — the wireless connection of Apple CarPlay has suddenly stopped working. Now, the only way to use the system is through a wired connection.
Many users are noting that after starting the engine, CarPlay does not automatically turn on, and the multimedia system does not recognize the iPhone. Manual connection is also not yielding results, and in some cases, the system disconnects immediately after connecting. For now, the only solution is to connect the smartphone via cable, which restores this functionality but deprives users of wireless convenience.
General Motors has officially acknowledged this issue and stated that it is working with Apple to resolve it. However, it is unknown when the problem will be fixed.
This situation is particularly exacerbated against the backdrop of GM's decision to completely abandon CarPlay and Android Auto starting with the new Chevrolet Blazer EV 2024 electric vehicle. The company plans to replace these systems with an internal system based on Android Automotive. The official statement indicates that this change is being made for better integration with the vehicle's onboard systems, but many users have received this negatively.
Some customers have indicated that if GM completely abandons CarPlay, they will consider changing the car brand. For now, the main question remains open: is this issue a technical malfunction or part of GM's gradual strategy to move away from CarPlay? An answer will be found in the coming months.
