Approximately 30 million users who purchased Apple or Samsung phones in the UK from 2015 to 2024 may be eligible for compensation. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Consumer Watchdog organization, which protects consumer rights, has filed a lawsuit. Each user is expected to receive an average payment of 17 pounds sterling.
According to the claim, some major companies set excessive prices for Apple and Samsung phone parts. This increased the overall price of the phones and caused financial harm to buyers.
The court process will last five weeks, and a decision will be made based on its outcome. If Consumer Watchdog wins, the total claimed amount of 480 million pounds sterling will be evenly distributed among the users.
The company previously considered this claim to be unfounded. At the same time, major manufacturers in other countries are also facing similar court proceedings.
According to the organization's CEO, Annabel Hoult, this court case demonstrates consumers' ability to hold large companies accountable and is important in protecting their rights. This situation marks a new stage in safeguarding consumer interests.
