The famous American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk's company Neuralink is seriously working on creating the opportunity for people who have completely lost their vision to see the world again.
This new generation technology can work even when the eyes or optic nerves are non-functional. It bypasses the human eye organs and connects directly to the visual cortex in the brain.
Musk emphasizes that initially, this vision will be as simple as basic graphics, but over time this potential could reach a level "higher than human vision capability."
This advanced development is considered the next stage after the initial chips that demonstrated the ability to transmit data between the brain and computer. Such chips currently allow patients who have suffered paralysis to control devices only through mental effort.
In March 2024, official information about this optical neuro-chip called Blindsight was first released. At that time, Musk announced that the chip had been tested on monkeys, resulting in a partial restoration of their vision.
In September of this year, the U.S. health department recognized this chip as a "revolutionary device" and officially granted permission to test it on humans.
Neuralink recently announced that it is fully prepared to conduct the first practical operation to implant the Blindsight chip into the human brain by the end of 2025. This could become one of the unprecedented achievements not only in ophthalmology or neurology but in the field of biotechnology as a whole.
Interestingly, Elon Musk intends to implant this brain chip into himself in the future. His plans include not only controlling electronic devices but also restoring muscle function, overcoming depression, and even enhancing the brain's cognitive abilities.
According to Musk's forecasts, by the end of 2025, artificial intelligence will surpass humans in intelligence. He believes that by 2030, artificial intelligence will almost certainly exceed the intellect of all humans.
Would you agree to use such a chip? Is technology a helper for humanity or a threat?
