The number of electric vehicle charging stations in Uzbekistan is steadily increasing. As of May 1, 2024, the total number of charging stations across the country reached 1399. This figure is 2.5 times higher compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The majority of electric vehicle charging stations, specifically 820 (59 percent), are located in the capital city of Tashkent. Tashkent region ranks second in this regard, with 154 such stations available in the area.
Among the regions, Namangan (70 stations), Samarkand (67 stations), and Jizzakh (50 stations) are leading in the number of charging stations. Additionally, Fergana has 43, Bukhara has 39, Kashkadarya has 32, Surkhandarya has 27, Andijan has 26, Navoi has 23, Khorezm has 21, Karakalpakstan has 14, and Syrdarya has 13 charging points operating.
Currently, the number of electric vehicle owners across the republic is also increasing, with the number of users of this service reaching 92 thousand.
It is worth noting that according to a decision made by the government of Uzbekistan last November, it is planned to install a total of 21,548 electric vehicle charging stations in the country by 2025. This will further improve the electric vehicle infrastructure in the country in the future.
