Mobile operators introduce only voice and SMS tariffs

An obligation may be introduced for mobile network operators in Uzbekistan to implement separate tariff plans that include only voice calls and SMS services. Zamin.uz reported this.
A draft government resolution has been developed by the Ministry of Justice regarding this issue. According to the submitted draft, it is planned to include this requirement in the licensing conditions for the telecommunications sector.
This will ensure that operators provide users with simple and affordable voice packages in addition to tariffs related to internet traffic. Currently, most tariffs mandatorily include internet services.
This situation may cause unnecessary expenses for some subscribers and limit their choices. The availability of tariffs intended solely for voice communication will ensure financial savings for users and create freedom of choice.
Another important change is proposed within the framework of the project. According to it, the use of numbers in tariff names that correspond to the monthly payment amount will be prohibited.
Such a measure is being introduced to prevent subscribers from being misled and to eliminate the discrepancy between the tariff name and its actual price. If these new rules come into force, simple, clear, and internet-free tariffs will once again become available to mobile communication users.
This will serve to make communication services more convenient and transparent.
