A new tax regime will be introduced for foreign citizens in the Republic of Uzbekistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the presidential decree, this new regulation will come into effect from January 1, 2026. Under the new tax policy, income earned outside Uzbekistan will be exempt from personal income tax.
However, two important conditions must be met to benefit from this privilege. First, a payment of 50 thousand dollars must be made as a special fee.
Second, the foreign individual is required to have an account in an authorized commercial bank in Uzbekistan or open a cryptocurrency account on a crypto exchange. The decree also defines the criteria for tax residency.
If an individual stays in Uzbekistan for more than 30 days within a year and owns or rents real estate in the country, they are considered a tax resident. These measures have been adopted to attract foreign investments and create a favorable economic environment for foreign citizens.
