Polyclinics in Uzbekistan are transitioning to a new system
On May 7, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting dedicated to improving the quality of medical services, effective use of medications, and enhancing medical education, as reported by nova24.uz.

During the meeting, the head of state announced a complete transformation of the operations of polyclinics in Uzbekistan. According to the new system, a bilateral contract will be established between the medical team and the assigned population, which will define the rights and obligations of the parties. Citizens will have the right to independently choose their family doctor. This will include private doctors among the specialists.

Additionally, a state-guaranteed medical assistance package has been approved. According to this package, medical services and medications will be fully covered by the state budget.

The number of gynecologists in polyclinics will be doubled. One new pediatrician will be assigned for every 3,000 children.

Now, working at 0.5 or 0.25 rates in the primary healthcare system will be abolished. All doctors and nurses will work full-time.

In each district, the activities of district and family doctor points and polyclinics will be optimized. Seven major polyclinics serving more than 12,000 residents will be transformed into smaller polyclinics. The district central polyclinic will be turned into a consultation-diagnostic department where narrow specialists will operate.
