Donald Trump stated that there are serious doubts and controversies surrounding the FireAid charity initiative organized to help the victims of forest fires in California. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He referred to this initiative on his Truth Social page as a “fraud and a disaster inspired by the Democrats.” According to Trump, the collected 100 million dollars has gone missing.
The forest fires that occurred in California caused significant damage. In particular, more than 30 people lost their lives in a fire that broke out in the Los Angeles area in January, thousands of homes were destroyed, and many families were left homeless.
Following this disaster, community organizations, particularly groups close to the Democratic Party, launched a charity campaign and raised funds to assist the victims. A charity concert featuring famous artists such as Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and other celebrities was held as part of the initiative.
Over 100 million dollars were raised at this event. According to Fox News, the funds were distributed among several non-profit organizations, but were not delivered directly to the victims.
The local population and protesters reacted sharply to this situation. Trump emphasized in his statement that there is a lack of transparency regarding where and how the funds were spent, which undermines trust in charitable initiatives.
He called FireAid “another fraud organized by the Democrats.” Experts and political commentators point out that such controversies can weaken public trust in charity and assistance, potentially leading to a lack of support for those in need in the future.
Moreover, the lack of financial oversight particularly negatively affects many needy individuals. This incident in California has brought the issue of the open and transparent distribution of charitable funds back to the forefront.
The victims and their families are still waiting for genuine assistance.
