The police in Shanxi province, China, arrested a couple attempting to vandalize a historical monument. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
They tried to cut stones from the Great Wall of China, which has a thousand-year history, and sell them on the online market. The Linfen city police identified a suspicious advertisement on the marketplace and uncovered this crime.
The advertisement stated, "Authentic bricks from the Great Wall of China for sale. Price 95 yuan."
Law enforcement tracked down the couple who violated the law — Wan and Qian — in Beichunxuan village. It was found that they were selling ancient pieces of the wall built during the Ming dynasty in the 14th-17th centuries.
According to reports, the couple had already sold over a hundred wall stones to various buyers. Interestingly, some customers were satisfied with the stones they purchased and wanted to place additional orders.
Additionally, researchers have determined that the attacks by the nomadic Xiongnu people contributed to the construction of the Great Wall of China. Women warriors also played a significant role in this army.
This incident once again draws attention to the issues of protecting historical monuments in China. It highlights the importance of preserving historical heritage not only in China but also around the world.
