Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the results of the latest negotiations regarding the armed conflict in Ukraine with seven state leaders, including the leaders of China, India, and Uzbekistan, along with the special representative of the US president, Steven Witkoff, in Moscow. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the press services of the Kremlin and the participating countries' leaders, this dialogue took place in the form of political consultations in various formats. On August 8, Putin spoke by phone with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the presidents of Belarus and Kazakhstan, Alexander Lukashenko and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The main focus of the negotiations was on the military situation in Ukraine, possibilities for stopping the war, and diplomatic measures aimed at ensuring peace. Additionally, Putin called South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to exchange views on the international situation in the region.
He informed the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, about the Kremlin's position and discussed cooperation issues between the two countries. Furthermore, the Russian president held a meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council to discuss important issues in the political and security fields.
During this meeting, not only the issue of Ukraine was discussed, but also broader problems related to regional security. Following Putin's meeting with Steven Witkoff, Moscow and Washington announced that they had begun preparations for a personal meeting between the Russian president and US President Donald Trump.
According to diplomatic sources, it is expected that the conditions for stopping Russia's military actions against Ukraine and ways to reach an agreement will be discussed at this meeting. This summit, which may take place next week, is anticipated to attract significant attention in the international political arena.
Observers believe that if the meeting is successful, new opportunities for ending the war may arise.
