The city government of St. Petersburg has introduced new restrictions in the labor market. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to a decree signed by Governor Alexander Beglov, foreign citizens are now deprived of the right to work in courier services. The main goal of this decision is to prevent hidden labor activity, enhance safety and service quality in the courier sector, and create new job opportunities for the local population.
City officials emphasize that this regulation will improve service quality while expanding employment opportunities for Russian citizens. However, it is also noted that the restriction may negatively impact the income of migrants.
Employers have been given a three-month period to adapt to the new requirements and reconsider their personnel policies. During this time, companies need to take measures to retrain employees or find new labor.
It is worth noting that previously, migrants were also banned from working as taxi drivers in St. Petersburg. Thus, the opportunities for foreigners to work in certain service sectors in the city are gradually being restricted.
Experts believe that although this policy is aimed at supporting the local population, there is a possibility that job opportunities for migrants will decrease and labor shortages may arise in certain sectors. Therefore, these changes are considered to be of significant importance in terms of maintaining balance in the labor market and ensuring effective management.
