US President Donald Trump proposed to transfer control of nuclear power plants in Ukraine to his country. This was announced by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Michael Wolff.
After a phone conversation between Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on March 19, representatives of the White House administration announced this proposal. Rubio and Wolff emphasized that Trump stated that transferring nuclear power plants to US management is the most effective way to reliably protect Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Trump noted that he could provide significant assistance in launching nuclear power plants and ensuring their safety by leveraging his extensive experience in the US electricity and utility sector.
Additionally, President Trump promised to cooperate with Zelensky on the issue of supplying Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. Zelensky described this conversation as "positive, meaningful, and sincere," expressing gratitude for the assistance provided by the US president.
The two leaders also discussed the situation in the Kursk region and agreed to further strengthen information exchange between defense agencies in the changing military situation.
