Officials from Israel and South Sudan are conducting talks on relocating Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to South Sudan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
So far, no official agreement has been reached, but discussions are ongoing. According to the plan, the population of Gaza, which has been affected by war for two years, could be relocated to South Sudan, where political and ethnic conflicts exist.
However, this idea is strongly criticized by Palestinians and much of the international community. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has proposed strengthening military control in Gaza and encouraging Palestinians to voluntarily leave the area.
Palestinian leaders have firmly rejected this proposal, comparing it to the 1948 “Nakba” event. The South Sudan Ministry of Foreign Affairs initially called reports about such plans unfounded.
However, according to information, last month this issue was discussed during a meeting in Israel with the South Sudanese Foreign Minister. Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel recently stated that there was no talk of relocating Palestinians during meetings held in Juba, and that the discussions mainly focused on foreign policy, international organizations, and the humanitarian situation in South Sudan.
Currently, this issue is at the center of international attention, and more dialogue and negotiations are needed to find a solution.
