A decision has been made to close penal colonies and modernize the penal enforcement system in the Kyrgyz Republic. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced by the country's Minister of Justice, Ayaz Bayetov, during a briefing held on August 19. According to him, there are prisons and penal colonies in the country, but prisoners have become reluctant to go to penal colonies.
Previously, they only went to penal colonies for registration and supervision. Later, after the probation system was introduced, the two systems began to overlap.
Additionally, staff shortages also emerged as a problem. For this reason, penal colonies will now be closed, and all prisoners will be transferred to the probation system.
According to the minister, more than 10 penal colonies are planned to be closed. The relevant decree was signed by Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov on August 4.
This decision aims to simplify the country's penal enforcement system, use resources efficiently, and integrate prisoners into society. The updated system will help improve the supervision of prisoners and facilitate their reintegration into society.
Thus, the efficiency of the penal enforcement system in Kyrgyzstan will be increased and modernized.
