A unique and remarkable event occurred in China. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
A woman gave birth three times within four years in order to avoid prison punishment. Known as Chen Hong, this woman was sentenced to five years in prison in December 2020 for fraud.
She studied the country's laws and used legal opportunities to avoid prison. According to Chinese laws, prisoners who suffer from serious illnesses, pregnant women, and prisoners with newborn babies can temporarily serve their sentences at home.
Additionally, such prisoners must be regularly monitored and provide information about their pregnancy or illness every three months. Chen Hong's third child was born in May 2024, but the woman did not live with her children and divorced her husband.
The local prosecutor's office assessed this situation as the woman using pregnancy as a means to escape prison. Initially, the issue of returning her to prison was considered, but since there was little time left until the end of her sentence, she was placed in a temporary detention center.
An interesting aspect is that in Japan, on the contrary, elderly women prefer to go to prison to avoid poverty and loneliness. There, pensioners receive care and social support in women's colonies, and they have the opportunity to live in a safe environment.
This event shows how laws and social rules affect women's lives and how people's desires for escape and support are intricately connected with social and legal systems.
