The main cable of a bridge under construction in Jainka district snapped, causing the entire structure to collapse. As a result of this incident, 12 workers died and 4 others went missing.
There were a total of 16 workers at the construction site, and the main part of the 108-meter-long steel structure broke, causing the workers to be pulled into the water. Rescue operations began immediately.
By 14:00, 806 rescuers, 91 pieces of equipment, 27 boats, 1 helicopter, and 5 robots were deployed to the scene. Injured workers were taken to six nearby hospitals.
The Chinese Emergency Management Department sent a special task force. They are engaged in investigating the incident, searching for the missing, and overseeing rescue efforts.
