Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has announced his readiness to discuss territorial issues directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was stated by Ukraine's First Deputy Foreign Minister Serhiy Kyslytsya in an interview with NBC News. He emphasized that Zelenskiy acts taking into account Ukrainian legislation and public opinion.
Kyslytsya said that the Ukrainian public is completely against giving up territories in exchange for peace. At the same time, the president has expressed his readiness to raise the topic only in a direct conversation.
According to Kyslytsya, there is readiness to discuss territorial issues between Zelenskiy and Putin. The negotiation process is gradually developing, and work is underway on a preliminary draft regarding security guarantees.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that both sides need to make concessions to reach a peace agreement. According to him, if one side does not make concessions, it is not peace but surrender.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, however, stated that a meeting between Zelenskiy and Putin is not yet planned because the agenda is not ready. The Ukrainian side reports that following recent talks in Washington, work is continuing on security guarantees and political approaches.
Overall, Kyiv's position aligns with the law and public will, showing readiness to discuss territorial issues only at a high-level direct meeting. Meanwhile, comprehensive guarantees and a phased political solution are being worked on externally.
