The Austrian government plans to officially ban girls under the age of 14 attending school from wearing hijabs. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced by the country's Minister for Youth and Family Affairs, Claudia Plakolm, in an interview. According to her, this ban is introduced not only from a religious perspective but also to protect the overall well-being and rights of children.
Plakolm emphasized that the hijab is especially unnecessary for girls under 14 and is not mandatory in Islam. She also noted that consultations with parents and psychologists can be conducted if necessary.
Schools will also have the opportunity to involve authorized organizations that protect the rights of children and youth. The minister considers these measures very important to protect children and ensure they feel free and safe.
So far, there is no clear information on what measures will be taken against girls who do not remove the hijab or violate the ban rules, nor when the new regulation will come into effect. Officials emphasize that this policy is the first step aimed at safeguarding the educational environment in schools and creating safe conditions for adolescents.
Thus, the Austrian government remains firm in protecting children's rights and ensuring their well-being.
