Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced that Ankara has completely suspended all economic and trade relations with Israel. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Additionally, the country's airspace will be closed to Israeli aircraft. The minister emphasized that Turkish ships will no longer be allowed to enter Israeli ports.
Speaking at a parliamentary session, Hakan Fidan stated that Israel's military strikes against the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and Iran constitute acts of terrorism against the international community. These actions pose a serious threat to regional security.
In May 2024, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the suspension of trade relations with Israel due to the Gaza war. According to official data, the volume of trade between the two countries in 2023 amounted to 6.8 billion dollars, with 75 percent corresponding to Turkish exports.
Recently, Israeli media reported that Turkish ports require certificates confirming no connection to Israel and that they do not accept military or hazardous cargo. Furthermore, on November 13, 2023, Erdoğan officially announced the suspension of Turkey's diplomatic relations with Israel.
Ankara's firm decision has brought relations between the two countries to a new level and is causing significant changes in the geopolitical situation of the region.
