New conflicts have arisen within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the AnewZ publication, India has once again rejected Azerbaijan's application for full membership in the SCO. India explains this decision by Azerbaijan's open support for Pakistan.
According to Indian diplomats, this situation contradicts the principles of multilateral cooperation and the "Shanghai spirit." Conflicts between two countries should not be transferred to the organization's arena within the SCO framework.
However, China's position is different. Beijing officials fully support Azerbaijan's application and emphasize that it aligns with the SCO principles.
Political analysts note that such a situation further intensifies conflicts within the organization. On one side, there is China's support and encouragement, while on the other side, India's strong opposing stance is evident.
Officials in Baku state that this decision will not affect Azerbaijan's political direction, but they emphasize that this step contradicts multilateral diplomacy and the SCO spirit. According to APA agency information, as a result of this process, Pakistan rejected Armenia's application for membership in the organization.
Currently, the full members of the SCO are: India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus. Afghanistan and Mongolia act as observer states, while Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey, and Sri Lanka operate as dialogue partners within the organization.
This situation signifies a further test of the balance within the SCO. The organization's future development will depend on upcoming negotiations and decisions.
