
The number of casualties from the strong earthquake that occurred on the night of September 1 in Afghanistan has reached 850. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Additionally, more than 3,000 people sustained various injuries and were hospitalized. This was stated in an official statement by the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The earthquake occurred at 00:17 local time, with a magnitude of 6.0. The epicenter was located 10 kilometers deep beneath the earth's surface.
The greatest damage was observed in the Kunar and Nangarhar provinces bordering Pakistan. According to Zabihullah Mujahid, a representative of the Afghan government, the casualties were mainly among the local population in these two provinces, with many losing their homes and suffering significant losses.
According to Sharafat Zaman, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, the lives and homes of the population were seriously damaged, and the government is requesting assistance from international partners and aid organizations. The government and international organizations are taking necessary measures to provide prompt medical aid to the victims, eliminate destruction, and restore the population to daily life.
