Neurotechnology company Neuralink, led by Elon Musk, plans to perform an operation in 2026 to partially restore the vision of a completely blind patient. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Elon Musk shared information about the first activity to be carried out in Canada on his social media page and outlined the company's future plans. According to the company and Musk, one of the main goals next year will be to gradually restore the vision of people with limited eyesight.
In this process, scientific and medical research aimed at addressing vision-related problems using neurochips will be conducted. This is expected to create new opportunities not only for patients with impaired vision but also for individuals suffering from other neurological diseases.
According to a report by Bloomberg news agency in July, Neuralink aims to perform neurochip implantations on nearly 20,000 patients annually by 2031. Patients will be able to use three different versions of the neurochip designed to improve vision for those with impaired eyesight, alleviate symptoms of neurodegenerative diseases, and control other mental illnesses.
These devices represent significant advancements in the field of neurology and offer new hope to many patients.
