On September 5, ICE units conducted a large-scale raid at the Hyundai-LG factory in Georgia, which produces electric car batteries. According to media reports, about 450 people were detained during this raid, over 300 of whom were South Korean citizens.
South Korean officials expressed concern about this action by the US and emphasized that the rights of their citizens should not be violated. Lee Che Woon, spokesperson for the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, demanded that the activities of investors in the US and the protection of citizens' rights be ensured.
Additionally, the South Korean presidential administration announced that negotiations on the repatriation of detainees have been completed and that a special plane has been sent to the US to take them back once the necessary official procedures are fulfilled.
