On September 11, a powerful explosion occurred in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The incident took place at the LGN Metal scrap metal collection enterprise located in the Ili district, resulting in the death of three Uzbek citizens. While local media outlets reported this, the Uzbekistan Migration Agency officially confirmed the event.
Currently, the necessary formalities are underway to repatriate the bodies of the deceased to Uzbekistan. The explosion occurred in the village of Bayserke.
The district police have opened a criminal case under the article “Violation of labor protection rules and causing human death,” and investigative actions are ongoing. According to the owner of the enterprise, Amirbek Sherbayev, there is a possibility that anti-tank mines were among the metal scrap.
Previously, this workshop was leased by a Chinese company that purchased various metal fragments at a low price. However, it is suspected that among them there might have been military waste and unused mines.
Sherbayev stated that the explosion occurred in the casting section. The exact causes have not yet been determined, but the involvement of dangerous military items cannot be ruled out.
All relevant forces and organizations have arrived at the scene and started investigative work. The Uzbekistan Migration Agency announced that it has assigned regional officials to provide practical assistance to the relatives of the deceased citizens.
It was also emphasized that close cooperation is ongoing with the investigative authorities of Kazakhstan. Investigation into this tragic incident continues.
