According to Australia's National Climate Risk Assessment, by 2050 more than 1.5 million people living in coastal areas will be at risk due to rising sea levels. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The report highlights the severe impacts of climate change such as floods, cyclones, heatwaves, droughts, and fires. Australia has already warmed by 1.5 degrees Celsius, and if the warming reaches 3 degrees, heat-related deaths in Sydney could quadruple, while in Melbourne they could nearly triple.
Communities in coastal areas, northern Australia, remote regions, and rural areas outside major cities face the highest risks. This situation will place significant pressure on the healthcare system, critical infrastructure, natural ecosystems, and primary industries, making rapid and effective emergency responses more difficult.
Experts emphasize that taking action against climate change is always cheaper and more effective than neglecting it. Preventing each degree of warming helps protect future generations from the most severe consequences.
Therefore, it is crucial to approach climate issues seriously and take necessary measures.
