Archaeologists in Egypt have reported an important discovery that has amazed the global scientific community. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
They identified traces of an ancient submerged port. This discovery is highlighted as a key to locating Cleopatra's tomb.
The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced this. The Dominican archaeological expedition excavated stone and metal anchors, amphorae, and remains of an inner port near the Taposiris Magna temple.
Additionally, an ancient tunnel connecting the temple to the sea was also found. According to the expedition leader, Dr. Kathleen Martinez, these findings strengthen the possibility that Cleopatra and her famous lover Mark Antony were buried here.
The search for Cleopatra's tomb has been ongoing for several years and is full of various hypotheses. If this theory is proven, it would be the greatest archaeological sensation of recent decades.
For reference, Cleopatra ascended to the Egyptian throne at the age of 18 in 51 BC and ruled alongside her brother Ptolemy XIII. Later, she came under the protection of Roman general Julius Caesar and, after his death, established a close relationship with Mark Antony.
However, the queen's life ended tragically: after Roman troops invaded Egypt, she committed suicide. Although it is assumed that Cleopatra was buried alongside Mark Antony, their tomb has not yet been found and remains a mystery.
