An important issue related to the living standards of the population in Turkmenistan was discussed. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At the People's Council meeting, a proposal was raised, which is one of the main directions of the country's social policy. At the meeting chaired by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, veteran elder Yozmurod Otamurodov emphasized the need to abandon the practice of annually increasing salaries, pensions, benefits, and scholarships by the state.
According to Otamurodov, the current social and living conditions of the population are sufficiently high, and there is no need to regularly increase payments. He also noted that in other countries of the world, citizens are not continuously granted benefits.
According to the veteran elder, if this initiative is implemented, the saved funds could be directed towards the country's development and other important sectors. President Berdimuhamedov expressed his support for Otamurodov's views.
This initiative has sparked intense discussions among the Turkmen public in local media. While some citizens support the proposal, others emphasize that it could negatively affect daily life.
The state-owned "Turkmenportal" publication closed comments under the report, which raised many questions among the public. Currently, the minimum pension in Turkmenistan is 550 manat, which is approximately 27.5 US dollars.
Average pensions are around 520 manat, about 26 dollars. Officials have not yet commented on the proposal to abandon the practice of indexing payments.
This event is of significant importance not only economically but also socially in the country, as many Turkmen families rely on state assistance.
Therefore, if this decision is made, serious changes may occur in the lives of thousands of families.
