The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsiya, reported this incident. According to preliminary information, a Superjet 100 aircraft belonging to a Russian airline was preparing for a flight to Saint Petersburg.
At the same time, an Airbus A330 aircraft belonging to Hainan Airlines was returning to Beijing. The collision occurred while they were preparing for takeoff on the runway.
Fortunately, no passengers were injured. According to the Russian airline, the wing of the Hainan Airlines aircraft touched the rear part of the Superjet 100, causing technical damage.
The Hainan Airlines aircraft is currently under inspection and has been temporarily grounded. Passenger safety is the top priority.
Passengers on the Saint Petersburg flight were transported to their destinations on a backup plane. The 264 passengers of the Beijing flight were accommodated in a hotel near the airport until a backup plane was ready.
Rosaviatsiya announced the formation of a special commission to investigate the incident. This event once again demonstrated the importance of technical control and safety measures at airports.
It was emphasized that passenger safety and regular technical inspections of aircraft are of great importance in air transport.
