The “Taliban” government in Kandahar city, Afghanistan, has introduced a new restriction. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
From now on, women can only receive services from female doctors in dental institutions. The use of male dentists is strictly prohibited.
According to foreign media reports, “Taliban” representatives entered several dental clinics and expelled women being treated by male doctors from the facilities. This restriction applies to both public and private medical centers.
Since the “Taliban” took power in 2021, women's rights in the country have been severely restricted. Girls have been banned from attending schools and higher education institutions, many have been denied the opportunity to work in government offices, and access to public places and entertainment venues has been limited.
International organizations and human rights defenders strongly criticize this decision. They emphasize the risk of violating women's right to access healthcare services, being deprived of medical assistance, and the intensification of gender inequality in society.
Experts believe that such restrictions not only harm women's personal freedoms but also negatively affect the country's social development. Therefore, international community attention and assistance are needed on this issue.
