
The death toll from heavy monsoon rains and typhoons in the Philippines has reached 26. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Council of the country, nearly 2.8 million people were affected by the natural disaster. Official sources report that 33 people were injured during the incident, and 14 citizens have been listed as missing.
It was also reported that more than 8,900 households suffered serious damage. The typhoon "Ragasa," which caused the disaster, formed as a tropical storm in the Pacific Ocean on September 16 and later became a super typhoon upon reaching the northeastern coast.
Wind speeds reached up to 260 kilometers per hour. In response, the governments of the Philippines, Taiwan, and Hong Kong took measures to warn the population and prepare for emergencies.
Relevant agencies continuously carry out preparedness work to prevent natural disasters and reduce their damage. Since this event further increases the risk of natural disasters in the region, additional measures are being taken to ensure the safety of the population.
Furthermore, international cooperation is being strengthened to assist the victims and mitigate the damages.
