Former Chinese Agriculture Minister Tan Jenszyan has been accused of corruption and sentenced to a two-year suspended death penalty. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to NHK television, the court ruled that he will be deprived of his political rights for life and all his personal property as well as illegally obtained income will be confiscated for the benefit of the state.
According to information, Tan Jenszyan held various high-ranking positions at central and local levels from 2007 to 2024. He accepted bribes from organizations and individuals under the pretext of assisting with contract signing, economic affairs, and personnel matters.
The total amount of bribes he received was 268 million yuan, approximately 38 million dollars. During the trial, the former minister fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse for his actions.
Taking this into account, the court postponed the execution of the sentence for two years. This means that if the convict commits another crime within two years, the death penalty will be carried out.
Otherwise, the sentence will be commuted to life imprisonment.
