A member of the lower chamber of the Tajikistan parliament, Dilnoza Ahmadzoda, has proposed introducing restrictions on children's use of social networks. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
She suggests a complete ban on children under 14 accessing social networks, while adolescents aged 14 to 17 would be allowed to use social networks only with written consent from their parents. Ahmadzoda explained this initiative in an article published in "Xalq Gazetasi," emphasizing that unrestricted use of the internet and social networks can negatively affect children's mental and moral development.
Experts, however, recommend approaching this issue with caution. They believe that a total ban may not be effective in practice and might not be sufficient to solve the problems.
Therefore, it is important to teach young people digital hygiene rules, develop critical thinking skills, and strengthen educational efforts. These measures will help ensure that children use the internet safely and wisely.
Thus, alongside introducing restrictions on social networks, there is a need to raise young people as conscious and responsible users. It is important to consider the opinions and suggestions of all parties on this matter.
