The Austin (Texas) police have managed to identify a suspect in a famous crime that occurred in 1991 and attracted widespread public attention. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This information was provided by Deadline. The case of the "Yogurt Shop Murders," which remained a secret for 34 years, was solved with the help of modern DNA analysis.
On September 26, investigators announced Robert Eugene Brashers as the suspect. Brashers had previously been suspected in several murders committed in the 1990s and in a 1997 rape case involving a 14-year-old girl.
In 1999, he committed suicide during a confrontation with the police over another crime. In an official statement, investigators emphasized their loyalty to the victims' families throughout those years.
The crime occurred on December 6, 1991. Four girls aged between 13 and 17 were attacked by an unknown person while finishing their shift at a frozen yogurt shop.
They were tied up, subjected to violence, and brutally murdered. The shop was deliberately set on fire.
This crime is depicted in the 2025 mini-series "Yogurt Shop Murders" and in the book "Killed Innocents" by author Cory Mitchell.
