China has made a rare and strict decision in its judicial history. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In Laukkay city, Myanmar, 11 members of a famous mafia family with the surname Ming, who had been controlling criminal networks, were sentenced to death. This was reported by the BBC based on its sources.
According to information, the Ming family controlled gambling houses, drug trafficking, and fraud centers for many years, managing billions of dollars in turnover. Their activities formed a dangerous power throughout the region.
Two years ago, after rebel groups took over the city, the head of the family committed suicide. Following that, most of the mafia members were handed over to China by the Myanmar government.
At the trial held on September 29 in the city of Wenzhou, a total of 39 people were sentenced to various punishments. Among them, 11 were sentenced to death, 5 to suspended death sentences, and 11 to life imprisonment.
The rest were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 5 to 24 years. According to court documents, the Ming family had been engaged in criminal activities since 2015.
In the gambling houses and fraud centers they controlled, cruelty was inflicted on workers, some of whom died under torture. Experts emphasize that such criminal networks are called "counterfeit industries" by international organizations, especially the UN.
Many people are trapped through deception in these networks and forced into illegal activities. The verdict issued by the Chinese court serves not only as a strict measure against criminals but also as a signal to the international community.
It is emphasized that major crimes should not go unpunished.
