A serious accident occurred on September 29 in a large industrial area in Shanchen district, located in central China. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At a plant owned by Hexin Chemical company, several workers were poisoned and fatalities occurred due to a leak from a container storing sulfuric acid. According to initial information, the acid mixed with rainwater collection systems and reacted with hydrogen sulfide there.
This hazardous chemical process caused the release of toxic fumes into the air, which the workers inhaled. According to official information, five workers died at the scene.
Another worker sustained serious injuries, and doctors have assessed his condition as critical. Two employees were hospitalized with minor injuries and their health is stable.
Staff from the Shanchen District Emergency Management Department reported that all workers were evacuated from the plant during the incident. A special commission is conducting an investigation to determine the causes of the accident.
Ecologists and safety experts emphasize that incidents involving such toxic substances pose a significant danger not only to workers' lives but also to the environment. Therefore, the necessity of strict compliance with safety regulations and strengthening preventive measures at chemical storage facilities is once again being highlighted.
The public demands an impartial and thorough investigation of the incident and that those responsible be held accountable. To prevent such accidents, all officials must responsibly fulfill their duties.
